The mission of First Christian Church, Richlands, NC is to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to worship and serve God. We desire to help individuals and families grow in relationship with, faith in, and commitment to Jesus Christ. We choose to speak boldly to the day and the world in which we live, to work eagerly and cooperatively with all Christians to pursue the oneness of the body of Christ, and to make known the love of God for all mankind. We proclaim the Great Commission of Jesus Christ as in Matthew 28:19-20 (NRSV): "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
We are a non-denominational theologically conservative Christian congregation. We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of the One True God. God exists in three persons - the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Son of God who was born of the Virgin Mary, died on the cross for the remission of sins, conquered death when he arose on the third day, and ascended into heaven where he sits at the right hand of the Father. We believe Jesus Christ intercedes on our behalf before the Father and outside of Christ there is no salvation. In the future, on a date only known to the Father, Christ will return in final victory. Until that day comes, we have been provided with the Holy Spirit which guides believers in thought, action, and deed. We believe baptism is the testimony to our salvation. Baptism is to take place upon profession of faith in Jesus Christ, proclaiming Him as Lord and Savior and repenting from sins. We also believe in the practice of celebrating Holy Communion every time we gather for worship.
